Álvaro Rodríguez Arregui is general director
of Vitro, S.A., one of the world's leading glass producers.
He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A.
from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de
México (ITAM).
From 2002-2003, Rodríguez was as chief executive
officer of Farmacias Benavides (Far-Ben), the largest drugstore
chain in Mexico. Prior to joining Far-Ben, he served as
chief financial officer of Grupo Elektra from 1999-2002.
In 1997, he wrote the business plan for Unefon, S.A. (Grupo
Salinas) where he would later serve as chief financial officer
from 1998-1999. As the CFO, he led Unefon’s efforts
to raise over US $1 billion in start-up funds. Before his
appointment with Unefon, Rodríguez worked for six
years as a banker in Latin America, Europe, and the United
States.
Rodríguez currently serves on the boards of several
organizations, including Acción International, the
largest microfinance organization in the Americas, and Fundación
Mexicana para la Salud (Funsalud), the Mexico Health Foundation.
