he Organization of American States and LASPAU have signed an agreement under which LASPAU will continue to provide services related to the administration of the OAS Academic Studies Scholarship Program. This is the sixth consecutive year that LASPAU will provide academic placement and grantee monitoring and financial services to the program. Both organizations share a common interest in selecting and supporting outstanding individuals from the Americas to study at colleges and universities of excellence in the hemisphere. As a result of the generous tuition support provided by host universities in Canada, Latin America, and the United States to OAS grantees administered by LASPAU over the past six years, the OAS has been able to expand the number of grants it awards to address development needs in the region through educational exchange. After a temporary pause in the program in 2006, the OAS is selecting new grantees this year, many of whom will be placed by LASPAU at universities throughout the region in the fall of 2007 and spring of 2008.
