LASPAU and the Institute of International Education (IIE) share the goal of encouraging international understanding and cooperation through academic and professional exchanges. Although LASPAUs work is specific to the Americas and IIE develops and administers programs worldwide, the two organizations have dedicated themselves to expanding opportunities for individuals to enhance their capabilities and, in turn, strengthen their home institutions and countries. In 2001, the United States Department of State selected LASPAU and IIE to jointly administer the Western Hemisphere Fulbright Program. Through the collaborative partnership, LASPAU and IIE will work together to advance the goals of the Fulbright Program in the region, expanding and enhancing the Programs identity and improving its quality. It is expected that the partnership will also result in greater efficiencies for the Fulbright Program by combining administrative resources. LASPAU looks forward to a fruitful collaboration that can only serve to enhance the beneficial work of the Fulbright Program in the Western Hemisphere.
