The SENECA Program for Academic Excellence was designed to train professors at the Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC) in interactive teaching and learning tools and methodologies to assist them in encouraging individualized or student-centered learning at the university.

The SENECA Program began with a general workshop held March 26-April 3, 2007 on the campus of Harvard University. The workshop trained UNITEC 17 professors in various fields who, upon return to Honduras, assisted in the training of their colleagues.

Follow-up workshops were held on two UNITEC campuses in the fall of 2007.
