Description
The Fulbright
Seminar: Quality and Equity in Education Reform is a short-term
education workshop focused on a range of topics including policymaking
and educational reform, minority access to education, institutional
change, and the role of the private sector. The seminar will be
held from March 14 to March 18, 2005 on the campus of Harvard University.
This seminar
is being offered to alumni of the Fulbright Faculty Development
Program who are active in the education sectors of their countries.
Fifteen countries from Latin America and the Caribbean are represented
by the twenty participants who will be attending. The purpose of
the seminar is to bring together leaders in education with scholars
in the field to assess efforts to bring about educational reforms
dedicated to improving quality, while simultaneously addressing
equity issues.
The presenters
include faculty from Harvard University and other Boston area universities,
as well as invited speakers from Latin America and the Caribbean.
During a series of five panel discussions, each seminar participant
will make a formal presentation to the seminar participants on their
academic programs, projects, and research.
The seminar is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural
Affairs of the U.S. Department of State through the Fulbright Program,
and it is coordinated by LASPAU: Academic and Professional Programs
