LASPAU: Academic and Professional Programs for the Americas is a nonprofit organization affiliated with Harvard University and governed by an independent, inter-American board of trustees. LASPAU designs, develops, and implements academic and professional exchange programs on behalf of individuals and institutions in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. While most of these efforts are devoted to graduate-level exchanges, undergraduate and professional non-degree programs also form part of LASPAU's scope of activities. The organization is unique in its strong regional focus, administrative expertise, and foundation in the Harvard community.

Duties And Responsibilities: Reports to Program Advisor and/or Placement Coordinator. Assists in functions related to academic placement of grant recipients from Latin America and the Caribbean, including researching grantee placements, preparing and sending university applications and dossiers, information packets and letters for grantees and academic institutions. Communicates with grantees and academic institutions. Produces DS-2019 forms necessary for students' legal status in the US. Maintains and updates database files. Assists with letters, reports, mailings to enrolled grantees, US universities, and clients. Communicates with grantees, U.S. and Latin American institutions. Responsible for data entry and maintenance of grantee files and records. Responds to calls and correspondence in supervisor's absence. Assists Program Officer with functions relating to managing client relationships as well as program implementation, specifically the recruitment and selection of grantees. Responds to urgent calls and correspondence in officer's absence. Works on special projects as required. This is a temporary position with a possibility to change to permanent position as of January 1, 2010.

Basic Qualifications: High school diploma, one year work experience, and Spanish fluency (verbal and written) required.

Additional Qualifications: College degree preferred. Proficiency with data and word processing, internet searches, and accurate keyboarding skills. Familiarity with Windows XP and Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel) preferred. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese a plus. Flexibility, teamwork, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills important.

Duties And Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Communications Officer, has primary responsibility for ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of LASPAU's online portal for program grantees and other constituents and related materials. Using Hobsons Enrollment Management Technology (EMT), develops and manages LASPAU's online student portal and associated forms and materials. Enhances and updates the content for existing scholarship programs and develops content for new programs as needed. Works with Communications Officer to expand the portal to new groups of LASPAU constituents, adapt it for fund-raising use, and incorporate current LASPAU Program Office procedures and communications into the system. Oversees LASPAU's online application process using Hobsons EMT ApplyYourself. Ensures accurate and timely transfer of application data to the LASPAU database and/or EMT Connect. Manages use of and training for the administrative back-end of the online systems by LASPAU staff and program clients. Administers user accounts. Assists with integration of applications with existing office systems and protocols. Works closely with Communications Officer to investigate and implement new communications technologies as needed and appropriate for various LASPAU constituents. Photographs events using digital camera. Uses image-editing software to create or adjust graphic images, including photographs, for print and electronic publications. Serves as backup for activities related to LASPAU's general website and auxiliary sites, including developing and sustaining a thorough working knowledge of all technical aspects of the system. Acts as an in-house consultant on issues of grammar, style, and design. May assist in researching, writing, and editing reports, proposals, correspondence, procedural documents, and other materials. May design promotional materials using InDesign, PhotoShop, and PowerPoint. May assist with the logistics of print publication production. Supervises temporary employees or work-study students as needed. Reports to Communications Officer. Related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications: Three to five years of direct experience in current communications technologies. Basic knowledge of network protocols and some experience with computer applications and operating systems. Basic web design, HTML coding, desktop publishing, and Excel experience essential. English fluency and Spanish proficiency required.

Additional Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred. Proven written and oral communication, leadership, and project management skills. Strong analytical and technical skills. Excellent writing, editing, and graphic design skills. Flexibility, attention to detail, and willingness to work in a team environment. Working knowledge of Hobsons EMT desirable. Content management experience preferred. Experience with or understanding of U.S. and international academic communities and/or knowledge of academic exchange programs helpful.

Duties And Responsibilities: Reports to Manager of Placement Services. Places individuals from Latin America and the Caribbean in graduate and non-degree programs in the United States and other countries. Researches and targets appropriate courses of study, ensures all necessary requirements for admission are completed, works with universities to assure admission and obtain tuition assistance. Researches costs and establishes annual budget for grants. Initiates contact with new institutions regarding grantee placement and relationship with LASPAU. Serves as conduit of information within LASPAU to ensure the smooth and timely flow of information to appropriate staff members, clients and grantees on current situations relating to grantees' placement. Works with program officers in evaluation of applicant files to lend field of study expertise. Travel may be required. Performs other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications: Master's degree and five years of related experience required.

Additional Qualifications: Fluency in Spanish (spoken & written) strongly preferred. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese a plus. Familiarity with university graduate education and the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, and experience with Latin America and the Caribbean and international students preferred. Good judgment and excellent organizational, communication (written & spoken), and interpersonal skills essential. Experience with Windows XP and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) preferred. Knowledge of Latin American, U.S., Canadian, and Caribbean higher education institutions and systems, and previous work with sponsoring agencies highly desirable.
