Program Description
The Fulbright
Seminar: Leadership for Sustainable Development is a short-term
leadership workshop, focusing both on leadership training and on
key environmental topics. This seminar is being offered to alumni
of the Fulbright ecology and faculty development programs in areas
related to ecology and the environment. The main purpose of the
workshop is to increase both the skills and the subject-matter expertise
of participants in a setting where they will learn with peers from
19 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The academic
program contains sessions on general leadership strategies and a
range of specific leadership tools, such as negotiation, conflict
resolution, and other topics that can be applied to sustainable
development and the environment. The seminar will combine these
sessions with a field trip where participants will have the opportunity
to enhance their learning through direct observation of experiences
in sustainable development.
The seminar
is funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the
United States Department of State, the sponsor of the Fulbright
Program. It is administered and organized by LASPAU: Academic and
Professional Programs for the Americas and conducted by INCAE, Instituto
Centroamericano de Administración y Empresas.
