Grants for Applied Research

The Border Ozone Reduction and Air Quality Improvement Program makes grants available for applied research projects that lead to reductions in ozone and particulate matter precursors and other airborne pollutants and improve air quality in the Mexicali-Imperial Valley border region. The program favors proposals from researchers affiliated with Mexican universities and research institutions. Cross-border collaborations are encouraged.

Applicants must demonstrate that they have formed project partnerships with small- and medium-sized industries, government agencies, or civic groups that have the ability to implement the applied research funded by the grant program. The hope is that the program will encourage ongoing partnerships between academia and the industry, civic, and government sectors, with the shared goal of maintaining improved air quality.

The 2006 application period is closed. Click here (PDF) for information about the 2006 grant recipients.

LASPAU is currently seeking additional sources of funding for the Border Ozone Program. For further information please contact Ned Strong at +1-617-495-0555 or ned_strong@harvard.edu.
