A program to expand women entrepreneurial and managerial talent in Mexico and Central America
10,000 Women is a Goldman Sachs initiative to expand the pool of entrepreneurial and managerial talent throughout the world—especially among women—in order to reduce inequality and ensure a greater distribution of economic growth. The five-year program has two primary goals:
- increase the number of underserved women receiving business and management education
- improve the quality and capacity of business and management education around the world
LASPAU and the Tecnológico de Monterrey have partnered with Goldman Sachs to bring the initiative to women entrepreneurs and business schools in Central America and Mexico. Through the partnership, LASPAU and the Tecnológico de Monterrey will offer a business training program for women who have entrepreneurial potential and are committed to their communities and a faculty development program for two university-based business schools.
"Through training women entrepreneurs, the 10,000 Women Initiative for Latin America and the Caribbean will have an enormous impact on the economies of Mexico and Central America."

Faculty members at the selected business schools will participate in a range of activities:
- Training through the Teaching and Learning Body of Knowledge (TALBOK™), an online course designed to strengthen faculty pedagogical competencies
- A five-day workshop for faculty leaders in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that will feature experts on university teaching and learning
- Peer mentorship by faculty participants at their home institutions
- The TALBOK online best practices self-assessment test, taken both before and after undergoing training
The application process for business schools begins on August 7, 2009, and LASPAU will announce the selected institutions by September 21, 2009.
